As developers and tech influencers we sometimes face breakdowns. Outsiders see Techies as Robots or Superhuman. But the reality is different for different individuals.

Mental health has been a major concern in the remote work environment. Family members are great supporters but to be honest it is sometimes difficult to give time to them due to busy life schedules.

That's why the answer lies in Tech communities to maintain the mental energy. Communities like hashnode enable us to adopt a friendly culture that boosts our minds.

You may think this is not true. But being a Developer, Evangelist, and Psychology enthusiast, I have seen that our minds automatically respond to some actions without giving much attention or thought to the same. This gradually degrades our mind power.

Change is constant - in this digital world. But sadly, conversations are vanishing; relations are getting worse and problems are increasing.

Neither an App nor a relaxing video can give the solution. The ultimate choice to manage our mind and our thoughts is with us.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Mental Energy

The energy which immunizes even your physical activity and routine with thoughts, ideas, and processes in your mind. The problems cannot be cured by medicines and tranquilizers but only possible with the right people and community. We've heard about boosters for mental health but we have forgotten about the root.

FACT

Till 2019, 800,000+ people commit suicide every year due to depression which is 1 person every 40 seconds. I assume that it will definitely touch over 1 million because of things around the world. ( source: UN )

Here are few tips, I personally suggest with my research and experience with people.

20 Tips for Mental well-being

  • Drink ๐Ÿฌ water regularly in sips and you can take any good fluids but avoid preserved ones.

  • Avoid ๐ŸŸ Junks and replace them with fresh and healthy food

  • Change ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ the position of your desk if you're unwell. This may seem weird but really helps. Change is the key.

  • Reject ๐Ÿšซ negative people around you.

( P.S. this is not hating, but you are taking care of yourself first. and Remember, responding and involving with someone doesn't mean love. )

  • Neglect ๐Ÿ”‡ voices and social media which never motivates you

  • Limit ๐Ÿฅฝ your unproductive social media time ( Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, etc. )

  • Write โœ’๏ธ your thoughts and ideas. Become an entrepreneur for yourself.

  • Reading ๐Ÿ“š is the most underestimated thing. Always fill your mind every day with fresh knowledge on life and productivity else negativity will grab the seat.

An empty mind is a devil's workshop

  • Keep ๐Ÿงฒ your close friends list a chosen one. I prefer less than 3.

  • Travel โ›ฑ๏ธ to new places and explore the world

  • Workout at least for 15-20mins a day (Sweat out)

  • Walk ๐Ÿšถ in the Open-air environment especially when the sun is out.

  • Never โ™ป๏ธ hesitate to share your thoughts and ideas after writing

  • Keep your goals ๐Ÿช‚ visionary ( I have explained this in the last section )

  • Track โณ the time to Discipline yourself

  • Setup ๐Ÿช‘ a good chair, monitor, and a desk to maintain a 180-degree angle during your screen-time. (Straight backbone helps in easy supply of fluids to the brain)

N.B. Moving every hour and using desk for only deep work hours can boost your productivity

  • Don't spend ๐ŸŒ™ your time in Darkrooms, make sure you have a good lamp when you use devices.

  • Be Independent ๐Ÿ’ช as you can, which strengthens the pillars of your Mind

(This doesn't mean to stay alone, simply means - your decisions should not be based on others' opinions.)

Note: Nobody knows better about yourself than you

  • Make Healthy conversations ๐Ÿ’š always. Sometimes, people fill the knowledge but never express it in words, which is not fruitful.

  • โฒ๏ธ Finally, break your time in sessions and take breaks. Do what you love. Change your roles if you're not satisfied.

๐Ÿน Important - Vision vs Goal

Unless you have a VISION, you cannot achieve your goals as per your plan. Be a thinker and a visionary. You can be happy when your surroundings are happy. So you have to be realistic and self-disciplinary in everything you do.

Software Developer, Scientist, Developer Advocate, and Community Manager are just roles or sub-goals but they may or may not align with your vision. That totally depends on you.

In other words, if your vision is to bring a solution to something then GOALS help you to drive towards your VISION. Choose the right roles and take your time.

Never get confused with Goals and Visions. They are different!

Remember, a CEO of some X company cannot become CEO without vision even by having the required skillset.

So be a VISIONARY in whatever you do, that will boost your MENTAL ENERGY for your entire life.
